Cystoscopy procedure

My boyfriend just had a Cystoscopy done, it was extremely embarrassing and painful. After they applied anesthetic into his urethra two female nurses masturbated him until he had an erection and then inserted the cystoscope. At the end of the test the nurses cleaned out the anesthetic from the urethra with special tools. Is this procedure normal? We have researched a lot on the web and never came across the notion that erection is necessary for a Cystoscopy, on the contrary articles mentioned erection is dangerous during Cystoscopy.

We are left to wonder whether the procedure may have been damaging or humiliating on purpose for some reasons. My boyfriend has now been prescribed a medication for 3 months that will prevent erection and ejaculation. If this doesn’t produce results he was told to have surgery. The urologist says something is blocking his flow of urine but the prostrate size is almost normal. Can you please share your opinion about the procedure and surgery given your expertise.

Thank you.
Dorothy

I would file a complaint with the hospital or medical association as this is unheard of.

As far as the prostate is concerned get another urologist to examine him.
